FAQ Page for Arizona State University

Returns Message Please rest assured that if your commencement event is cancelled, Herff Jones will refund your purchase of unused regalia up until the original ceremony date. Graduating college is a huge milestone, and even if you do not get to walk across the stage, we encourage you to keep your graduation regalia as a memento of this special occasion. If you choose to keep some of your order, return the unused portion and we will issue you a refund of that amount. You will not be charged for shipping your regalia and diploma frame.

Q: How do I get the discount for the Online Grad Fair?

A: The price of the packages is already discounted. Only Graduation Packages are discounted

Q: Do I have to purchase a Graduation Packages?

A. No, you can just purchase the cap and gown unit, announcements, etc., but they are not discounted. Just go to the top of the second page and select those items. Example “Cap and Gown”.

Q: I see a graduation donation listed on my cap and gown and in the packages…what is that?

A: An additional benefit of discounted regalia packages is the inclusion of a donation that provides financial support for people and programs in need within the ASU community. The donation will either go to ASU’s Student Crisis Fund or you can direct it towards another fund before July 1, 2020! If you have additional questions, please e-mail alumni@asu.edu

Q: I still have my gown from my bachelor’s degree...can I wear it for my master’s degree?

A: Unfortunately, you cannot wear the same gown for both degrees. The Masters level gown has an additional sleeve portion that denotes a higher-level degree has been obtained.

Q: What color should my tassel/hood be?

A: Bachelor’s degrees all wear the same tassel, maroon/gold with the ASU signet.

A: Master’s degrees have color tassels for majors. Masters students will have a degree color hood, as well.

A: You will be asked your “Area of Study” when purchasing your cap and gown. Once you have selected your major, our site auto-populate the correct colors for you.

A: If you don’t see your degree/major, please email help@southwestgrad.com for further information.

Q: I purchased two tassels. Which one do I wear to the ceremony?

A: Students that purchase a Graduation Package will receive a Ceremony Tassel and a Souvenir Tassel. The ceremony tassel will include the ASU Signet. The Souvenir Tassel is Maroon/Gold with a year date signet and is NOT meant to be worn to ceremony.

Q: Can I place an order for a friend and me?

A: Yes, but you will have to place two separate orders. The website will not let you order two.

Q: Is the Stole of Gratitude mandatory?

A: The Stole of Gratitude is an additional amenity to the official cap and gown. It is not a required.

Q: I don’t see an option to purchase just a tassel or cap.

A: Please e-mail help@southwestgrad.com

Q: I have Latin Honors, where do I get my honor cord?

A: Undergraduate students who have completed at 56 semester hours of resident credit at ASU qualify for graduation with academic recognition based on the GPA requirements below:

Cum Laude (3.40 - 3.59 GPA)
Magna Cum Laude (3.60 - 3.79 GPA)
Summa Cum Laude (3.80 - 4.00 GPA)
Cords are for ceremonial purposes only and are awarded based on your current GPA at the time of your request. Honors designated on your diploma will reflect your final cumulative ASU GPA. Pick up honor cords at any University Registrar Services location.

Q: I am getting my master’s degree. Do I get an Honor Cord?

A: Honor cords are only received by Bachelors. Masters do not receive Honor Cords

Q: I have two convocations I would like to attend. How do I get both on the announcements?

A: Please e-mail help@southwestgrad.com. We can add but will have to be done manually.

Q: My degree/major isn't listed in the drop-down for announcements What do I do now?

A: You can simply type in your degree or major instead of choosing a pre-loaded option from the drop-down menu.

Q: The ordering site will not let me move forward.

A: You might have more than cap and gown unit in the cart. It will only let you buy one. Go to the cart and select update.

Q: Can I make changes to my order?

A: Orders placed online download directly to our production team and therefore, no changes or cancellations can be made once the order has been placed. Please contact Customer Service at 1.800.837.4235 for additional assistance.

Q: I see a graduation donation listed on my cap and gown and in the packages…what is that?

A: Please e-mail alumni@asu.edu

Q: Can I buy less than 25 announcements?

A: Due to production standards, 25 announcements is smallest quantity that you can purchase in a set.

Q: How do I know the time and date of my ceremony/convocation?

A: Ceremony and Convocation times are listed on the University Commencement website. Please visit https://graduation.asu.edu to obtain the proper time of your ceremony.

Q: Do the announcements come with envelopes?

A: Yes, your announcement order will come with the appropriate amount of inner and outer envelopes.

Q: I'm not attending the ceremony, but I'd still like to send out announcements. Is that ok?

A: Yes, we have many students that send out announcements even if they cannot attend their ceremony. Keep in mind that announcements are not invitations to an event, however they are a great way to inform friends and family of all your academic achievements.

Q: I’m graduating with Latin Honors and would like to include on my announcement: how do I know where my GPA falls?

A: Cum Laude (3.40 - 3.59 GPA)
Magna Cum Laude (3.60 - 3.79 GPA)
Summa Cum Laude (3.80 - 4.00 GPA)
Pick up honor cords at any University Registrar Services location.

Q: My college has more than one convocation (Maroon/Gold). How do I know which one I should attend?

A: Please visit those college websites. They will list what majors should attend which convocation.

Q. How do I get my Diploma Frame I purchased?

A: All frames that are purchased at the Online Grad Fair will be shipped by the bookstore. If you ordered a frame, the bookstore will ship directly to the address you provided.

Q: Are diploma frames different sizes for different degree levels?

A: Yes. The frames for your Bachelor and Masters degree will hold the standard 8.5'' x 11'' diploma. Frames for Doctoral graduates will fit the standard 11" x 14" diploma.

Q: Can I customize my own frame?

A: Yes, please visit www.framingsucess.com to view all your customizable options

Q: How long does it take to receive my ring once I place my order?

A: Standard production time of all rings is 6-8 weeks plus delivery.

Q: Do you offer payment plans for rings?

A: Yes, we offer interest free payment plans on 4-month and 6-month installments. There are no extra charges to partake in a payment plan and your ring still follows the standard production timeline!

Q: Where can I buy my cap and gown after the online Grad Fair?

A: Graduation regalia can be purchased online at Herff.ly/arizonastate until the deadline on April 12th.

Also, ASU Sun Devil Campus Stores will have regalia available for purchase after the online Grad Fair. You can purchase regalia at all four Sun Devil Campus Stores until graduation.

Q: The website says the deadline has passed...now what do I do?

A: If you've missed the final deadline, you can still purchase your regalia through any local Sun Devil Campus Store.
